Why People Hesitate to get the COVID-19 Vaccine

The allergic, those pregnant or breastfeeding and those who have recovered from COVID-19 may have good reasons for hesitating to get the vaccine.

The name calling in the press, directed at those who have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, is harsh. Those who have questions are called vaccine resisters, refusers, Anti-Vaxers, and are all lumped together into one disreputable bunch. In fact, the “not currently vaccinated” are a much more complex and diverse group than this media coverage admits.

About 70 million in the US are not vaccinated against COVID-19. Here are some of the reasons why.

Allergies

My doctor recommends that “patients with a history of immediate allergic reaction to polysorbate or to a previous dose of COVID-19 vaccine or any of its components including polethylene glycol (PEG) should not get the COVID-19 vaccine.” Here are the components of the three vaccines in use in the United States.
